Group Introduction

Guunj is a group of young, enthusiastic artists involved with creating and promoting art in various sectors of society. The group consists of 5 members, each involved in the practice of creating art; be it film making, photography or teaching art. The reason for forming the group was to give us a platform and support structure as we struggle to grow as artists and individuals.

Why we volunteered for the project?

When we heard about the project offered by city district government Karachi, we felt like it was a good opportunity for volunteering our skills and time to a worthy cause. As we had just finished art school the CSR project was right up our alley for learning experience. It felt really good using our talents and giving something back to the community.

What we learned?

It was brilliant creating an art piece along one of the main arteries of the city. The CDGK and Warden were a great help and support. It felt really nice to see people volunteer their time and hands for a good cause. More surprising was the reaction of the people who passed us every day. Their appreciation and encouragement kept us going strong and the energy level high for the 2 weeks it took us to complete the wall. It was truly an amazing experience to paint that 46 feet of bricks and cement.
